VIDEOS: Adventures in Permaculture

“Adventures in Permaculture: Transition West Coast”

Our second documentary project, “Adventures in Permaculture: Transition West Coast,” premiered last year at the North American Permaculture Convergence in Hopland, Calif. It is now available on DVD or for download. The message is how people need to take permaculture to the community level – quickly – to face the challenges of climate change, declining energy supplies and economic collapse.

We interviewed permaculturists on the cutting edge of transforming communities in Northern California, Oregon and Washington: Susan Silber, Penny Livingston, Rachel Kaplan, Trathen Heckman, Carolyne Stayton, Brock Dolman, Larry Goldberg, Jan Spencer, Matt Bibeau and Jacqueline Cramer.

Building on “Adventures in Permaculture: Australia,” our hope is that the video will be a really cool tool to help spread the word about how permaculture and transition can help humanity survive the present and coming crises – all for the price of an average movie ticket! We hope you’ll get a copy or two to pass around to your friends and neighbors!

Adventures in Permaculture: Australia

Ever feel like a modern-day Noah? You see the flood coming – and want to help build the boat?

Like many in the environmental movement, I’d heard the term “permaculture” now and then but didn’t really know what it was. I finally took a Permaculture Design Course and got the bug! Simply stated, permaculture is a system of designing human habitat and communities that cooperate with nature rather than work against it.

When I learned permaculture started in Australia, my wife and I (we’re both journalists by training) decided to go to Australia and see what people who have been doing it for 30-plus years had to say. The result is an article series and video called “Adventures in Permaculture: Australia.”

Our hope is that the video will be a really cool tool to help spread the word about how permaculture can help humanity survive the coming double-crisis of rapidly accelerating climate change and the end of cheap petroleum. All for the price of an average movie ticket! We hope you’ll get on board!

  1. Hi Steve and Trudy! LOVE This new email newsletter! Excellent! And, of course I want to help get your California video off and going. I’ll have to give you cash as I am “out” of my checking accounts and doing what I can to not use them. How much? I am hoping I can slice off $50
for you and then do more later when I am back on track.

    Love and more love.
